Well I decided to make the 198 yards of heaven shawl bigger and went ahead to do 4.5 repeats rather than 2.5 cause I could see that there were loads of yarn left.
How lucky is this... I have about 40cm of the yarn left at the end of the last odd row of the 4.5 repeats!!
Oops! It didn't bother me to use a contrasting colour for the lace border but I didn't think I would come this close. Anyway, I have some similar weight Busse Vicuna 100% alpaca in my stash so that's what I am using for the rest of the shawl.
